Ben studied at the Central School of Art until 1987; his degree show of large enamelled and jewelled pieces displayed a growing obsession with colour.

  In 1990 whilst visiting L.A he was introduced to Maxfields, for who he produced exclusive collections for their extraordinary Hollywood clients. The LA jewellery district exposed Ben to an wide array of gems, a new palate and expression of colour which rapidly over took his use of enamel. He continues to travel collecting gemstones as his primary source of inspiration.

From 1995 onwards Ben's gem set jewellery was being sold in the USA, Japan and London’s Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Selfridges.

Ben Day opened his first shop and studio in London's Spitalfields in 2002.

In 2009 he opened his second shop at 3 Lonsdale Rd, Notting Hill where his studio is also located.
